The SHAC is delighted to be hosting ‘Regenerate’, an exhibition of paintings by one of Australia’s most renowned artists Gordon Richards in The SHAC Gallery.
Richard Martin of Richard Martin Art in Paddington, one of Sydney’s most respected art gallery directors, will officially open the exhibition at an invitation-only event at The SHAC Gallery on Saturday 30 November at 2pm.
Before painting his first canvas in the early 90’s, Gordon was a highly acclaimed chef and innovative restaurant owner in Bendigo, Victoria, farming much of his own produce, including yabbies! In 1991 he relocated to Noosa, Queensland and established a new restaurant highly regarded for its innovative cuisine. It was in Noosa that Gordon’s talent for drawing and painting finally emerged - he exchanged his chef’s knives for paint brushes and so began his extraordinary career as an artist.
Gordon’s training as a chef enables him to work fast and spontaneously; scraping back and layering lush acrylics onto his canvases. Together with his self-confessed passion for “wine, women and food” and his ability to record observations of humour and pathos in everyday life, the artist is rewarded with the instant appeal that has made him one of Australia’s most successful artists.
Gordon is represented in numerous private and corporate collections throughout Australia and overseas including USA, Brazil, London, Amsterdam, Vienna, Switzerland, Germany, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore and Japan.
The ‘Regenerate’ exhibition runs from November 30 until December 24.
